Catskill Mountains
Exploring the Catskill Mountains was a wonderful experience. We hiked Kaatterskill Falls which unfortunately had no water due to the dry summer but was still beautiful. We left early in the morning which I'd advise if you plan on going because it gets very crowded. Also bring a really good pair of tennies, the hike is all uphill and all rocks (I almost didn't make it down, not a big fan of heights). After the long hike we needed a snack so we headed up to Tannersville for some shopping and the best donuts I have had in, well..... EVER! Twin Peaks Coffee and Donut Shop was friendly and delicious. I was going to take a picture of the donuts and the bread pudding muffin (which they grilled for me...yummy!) but as soon as they were set down, they were gone (sorry not sorry),
After our hike we decided to cool off with some paddle boarding! It was our first time and we were both pretty nervous but I thought it would be a fun outdoor activity.....well, I was right and now I'm obsessed! It was relaxing and a workout at the same time which who wouldn't love?! Check out Paddle Head's in Athens for rentals but you may have to wait until next year. I believe they closed after Labor day.
Once again it was snack time so we headed over to Crossroads Brewery for some appetizers and delicious beer! I enjoy trying new seasonal beers but by much surprise my favorite beer was the ROOT BEER! Of course I had to try a couple of other beers but we ended up leaving with a growler of the root beer, it was just too good!
Hudson, NY was an adorable town we stumbled upon. We had a wonderful dinner at Camea which was everyone's recommendation. The staff was friendly and even though we didn't have a reservation, they squeezed us in. I had the chicken which I highly recommend if you love dishes full of flavor. After dinner we stopped at OR for drinks, it was a great opened bar with an industrial but warm vibe to it (very Brooklyn).
Overall the weekend was great and we were happy to get out of the city for a couple of days. I highly recommend taking the drive up next month when the leaves start to change and the mountains are full of color.
Hope you are all enjoying your week!
